Dear Friend,

'm sorry if I've alarmed you, but I want to share something with you that's vitally important.
Firstly, can I ask you a question?

How would you feel if one of these four things happened to you?

  • All your valuable data has been corrupted, is inaccessible or totally wiped out.
  • You wake up one morning to find out that some one has hacked into your bank account
    and stolen every last cent.
  • Someone has stolen your identity, but they arrest YOU for fraud.
  • A total stranger arranges to meet up with one of your children!

Is all this sort of stuff really happening? You bet! Computer cyber crime, identity theft and cyber-stalking are becoming increasingly common. Did you know, that following simple procedures and installing the RIGHT SOFTWARE will help prevent these sort of situations from happening to you?

Read on to discover how you can protect yourself and your family from the bad guys of the internet.

From the Desk of:   Joe Jutrisa
Date:   20th March, 2007.

Hi,
My name is Joe Jutrisa and I'm going to show you how to reclaim control of your computer environment, and at the same time, regain your peace of mind.

Did you know that the biggest threat to your privacy and personal security today,
is an inadequately secured PC?

Why?
Let me explain. Unfortunately, it's a sign of the times.

  1. Just about everyone owns or has access to a computer theses days.
  2. A significant portion of banking, business and social activity is done via the internet.
  3. The convenience that this brings to our lives also applies to the criminals. They can now do business online just like you and I!

Just as you wouldn't leave you car unlocked with your wallet on the seat...
you shouldn't leave your computer unlocked!

Makes sense, doesn't it?

But don't take my word for it. Listen to what one of the world's most trusted suppliers of internet security software had to say...

Symantec Corp. (Nasdaq: SYMC) today released its Internet Security Threat Report, one of the most comprehensive sources of Internet threat data in the world. The report, covering the six-month period from January 1 to June 30, 2005, identified new methods of using malicious code for financial gain with increasing frequency to target desktops.

The report also found a rise in the exposure of confidential information. Such threats can result in significant financial loss, particularly if credit card information or banking details are exposed. Moreover, these concerns are more worrisome as online shopping and Internet banking continue to increase in popularity. During the first half of 2005, malicious code that exposed confidential information represented 74% of the top 50 malicious code samples.

Additionally, bot networks and custom bot code were available for purchase or rent; Symantec observed  an increase of more than 140% from the previous reporting period. As the financial rewards increase, attackers will likely develop more sophisticated and stealthier malicious code that will be implemented in bot features and bot networks, some of which could attempt to disable antivirus, firewalls, and other security measures.

The report also found that phishing attacks continue to proliferate, an increase of 100% from the last half of 2004. Symantec Brightmail AntiSpam antifraud filters were blocking more than 40 million phishing attempts per week!

During the first half of 2005, Symantec documented 1,862 new vulnerabilities - the highest number ever recorded in the Internet Security Threat Report!

"Attackers are moving away from large, multipurpose attacks on network perimeters and toward smaller, more targeted attacks directed at Web and client-side applications," said Arthur Wong, vice president of Symantec Security Response and Managed Security Services. "As the threat landscape continues to change, users need to be diligent in keeping systems up-to-date with security patches and security solutions."

Is your computer as safe as you think?

You're probably wondering how all this happens. Most of the time, this happens quite innocently through surfing the internet and by opening your emails. If you click on something, accept a download or open an infected email, then you may unknowingly trigger an infection from spyware, a trojan or other malicious software.

If you have a PC, a home based business or an internet connection; you need to consider this startling fact. You, your family, and your business may very well be exposed and at risk, because the majority of computers have little or no protection. And what they do have is generally, grossly inadequate.

Hackers are looking for ways to exploit holes in your system RIGHT NOW!

In fact you may already be infected with malicious software and you don't even know it.

script

Is your security up to scratch? And if you "think" it is, how do you know? The fact is, you can't really know
until it's been tested or infected (I'll reveal how to do this yourself!). An unprotected PC has very little chance of survival on the internet. Have a look at what the "SANS Institute" survey found...

Unpatched PC 'Survival Time' is just 16 Minutes!

By Gregg Keizer,
TechWeb, 8:50 PM EDT Wed. Aug. 18, 2004

The average unpatched Windows PC lasts less than 20 minutes on the Internet
before it's compromised, according to data from the Internet Storm Center.

Part of the SANS Institute , the Storm Center calculated the average "lifespan" of
an unpatched, unprotected PC by listening to IP addresses and tallying the number
of probes run against them.

"If you are assuming that most of these reports are generated by worms that attempt to propagate, an unpatched system would be infected by such a probe," the Storm Center
said in a statement.

In June 2003, the "survival time" of an unpatched PC was approximately 40 minutes.
As of Wednesday, the average was less than half that: only 16 minutes.

What the heck is the SANS Institute?

("SANS is the most trusted and by far the largest source for information security training
and certification in the world."
)

All of your personal information and financial details could be in the hands of
unscrupulous people as we speak!

Here's what I found out...

  • everybody is a target, and no one is immune (find later out how to assess your risk!)
  • cyber-crime is our greatest threat and a huge growth industry (you'll learn the reasons for this)
  • a lot of the spammers, hackers and software pirates have links to organised crime
    (this alone shocked me!)
  • there are thousands of products out there offering you protection
  • many of these products will actually infect your PC with malicious software or code
  • the average computer user knows little or nothing about computer security
  • most people don't take action until they've been infected or lost all of their data (then it's too late!)
  • in most cases this could have been avoided by implementing simple measures
    (at little or no cost)
  • finding a source of trustworthy and reliable products was extremely difficult

The scary thing is that you may be totally unaware that your personal security
and peace of mind may have been violated!

Do you have any of these stored on your PC?

  • photos of children,
  • secret passwords,
  • credit card details
  • bank account details and statements,
  • social security or tax file numbers,
  • your name and address as well as those of friends and clients,
  • confidential or important documents or business information

These are all personal and important to you, but this sort of information is also valuable to other unscrupulous individuals.

OK, this sounds a bit scary. Am I really at risk or is this just "sales bull"?

Let me explain.

The fact is that anyone with who...

Connects to the internet without the appropriate security software installed, or anyone whose PC is already infected...is at risk. If that's not you, you're not at risk.

If you're unsure, keep reading or click here to download your own copy of "Internet Security Secrets" .

How can you tell if I've been infected by malicious software? I'm glad you asked!

Are you experiencing any of these symptoms?

  • My computer seems sluggish.
  • My settings seem to have changed and I can’t  restore them.
  • My browser is going crazy.
  • I have an extra toolbar.
  • I’ve got extra icons on my desktop.
  • I’ve got a new program installed on my computer.
  • Why is my phone bill so huge?
  • I keep getting pop up ads.
  • My browser has been hijacked!
  • I can’t uninstall a program!

There’s a good chance you’ve got adware, scumware or worse still, some sort of spyware or
malaware installed on your computer. You need to take action now to prevent further damage
and to eliminate these parasites.

Here's a quick quiz...

Do you...

  • share your computer with other users?
  • have children with access to the internet?
  • use a high speed internet connection?
  • have antivirus as your only means of protection?
  • connect to a network at the office or at home?
  • use file sharing on your computer?
  • use email?
  • operate an online or home based business?
  • use a Windows based computer?
  • shop online?
  • use chat rooms, forums or instant messaging?
  • download files or software?

If you answered YES to any of those questions, then you need to take action now!

1) You already know everything!

That's fine. You may already be an expert and the information in the book may be of little value.
